The individual in this position will consult with clients and evaluate hardware, software, and network connectivity needs and problems. They will resolve or refer to the appropriate agency hardware, software, and network connectivity issues for desktop and notebook computers, printers, peripherals and personal digital assistants. The employee will maintain hardware certification with major approved vendors to support client systems and will be authorized to order and replace parts. The employee will utilize new ITCS approved technologies and when appropriate coordinate with ITCS teams and clients to implement them effectively. They will participate in both short term and long-range strategic planning. The employee will develop productive relationships with clients to understand and anticipate their business needs. The employee will assist clients in effectively utilizing technology. They will assist and educate clients using appropriate learning materials and will guide and educate clients in hardware and software selection to ensure adherence to ECU's strategic goals. The employee participates as a project team member on projects involving campus wide initiatives for ITCS and client departments.
The person in this position duties will have on-call responsibilities.
The person in this position will have to adjust their standard work schedule to meet the standards of their position, which includes and not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload to maintain University operations.

Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Technology Integration, Networking Technology, or related area and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, math or engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Journey level requires an additional one year of experience.

Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. ITCS is first and foremost committed to providing excellent information technology support for faculty, staff, and students. ITCS partners with campus departments, other universities, and industry to make strategic investments in information technology infrastructure that will help maintain a competitive advantage in administrative applications, faculty research, and outreach to the state and nation. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university.
Network, Systems, and Support Services (NSSS) provides the critical information technology (IT) infrastructure that powers the enterprise-level systems and provides the full end-to-end delivery of technology services across campus. This includes providing services for fiber optic and copper wiring infrastructure, wired and wireless networks, advanced network technologies, such as DNS/DHCP/IPAM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, application load balancing, and network access controls, along with phone systems, data center infrastructure, collaboration solutions, web applications, enterprise data storage, client/server hardware/software, and both desktop and mobile computing systems. NSSS also provides the primary ECU IT service desk, available 24/7/365 to all ECU students, faculty, and staff.
NSSS manages and maintains IT assets that connect all 225 of ECU's buildings, which are located not just in Greenville, NC, but across the state. These assets include the hardware and software to support 65,000+ wired data ports, 3,000+ wireless access points, 10,000+ PC's and laptops, and three data centers that house 1,000+ servers and 3 Petabytes of data storage.
