The University of Tampa seeks a dynamic individual to help lead the expansion of high quality hybrid and online learning in graduate and summer programs.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Graduate & Continuing Studies, the Director of UTampa Online collaborates with stakeholders across the university to develop, implement and maintain online education strategy for graduate and summer programs, curriculum & delivery standards, and coordination across academic areas. The director will oversee direct support for online course design, including development of media for use in courses, the establishment and maintenance of scalable training for faculty who are developing or teaching online courses, and guiding faculty reviews of online curriculum. The director will also participate in negotiations with vendors when outsourced services are needed and will work with Graduate Admissions to determine market opportunities, branding and promotion of online graduate offerings.
Function as the point of contact for oversight, coordination and follow-up of all online courses and programs currently offered and in development
Provide long-term and day to-day management of the University’s online courses and programs
Provide consultation for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of online projects, programs and initiatives
Coordinate with Admissions to manage enrollment strategies
Identify emerging trends and conduct needs analyses that offer opportunities for new programming and service
Project a scalable and financially sustainable online portfolio that leverages the unique strengths of UT’s units and faculty
Collaborate with academic departments and external agencies (Business, governments and industry) to identify and provide quality online education opportunities
Facilitate the development of University-wide policies and procedures to align with the requirements of such accreditors as SACS, NC-SARA, and accrediting organizations for individual colleges and programs
Work with campus and external partners to create and implement a robust communication strategy, focusing on marketing and recruitment for online programs and courses
Coordinate communication between invested parties, such as the faculty Online Teaching and Learning Committee, the University’s Center for Teaching and Learning, the Graduate Council, Deans and Department Chairs, and the Faculty Senate
Support student retention in online learning programs, with technology and training to achieve success in these formats
Support faculty with the technology and training for pedagogical differences between online, hybrid, and traditional face-to-face teaching and learning
Provide administrative oversight, management, strategic planning, budgeting, operations, and data collection and assessment for the full scope of UT’s online education efforts
Develop and manage UTampa Online staff
Ensure the consistency, quality and standardization of online and hybrid learning at the University, in accordance with our standards of excellence for traditional classroom learning
D. (preferred) or Masters and pertinent credentials in a relevant field
Demonstrated experience in online teaching and leadership in developing hybrid and online programs
Knowledge of best practices in online teaching and learning, and course design, and a thorough knowledge of applications and vendors
Experience in project management, including planning, implementation and follow-up
Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and campus offices
Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office
Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices
