Metropolitan State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and recipient of the 2019 Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire a Digital Marketing Strategist, Information Officer 3. This is a full time position within the Marketing, Communications and Recruitment Division
Office:St. Paul Campus, Marketing, Communications and Recruitment (travel to other campuses required based upon need)
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with some evening and weekend hours required based upon need
The digital marketing strategist oversees all aspects of university digital communications to support marketing initiatives including website, email, paid search, retargeting, audience segmentation, search engine optimization, mobile, social media, website traffic reporting and other digital channels. This person will develop relevant video and photo content and connections through building awareness through news, stories, resources and events to drive engagement.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Web Design, Writing, Project Management, or related field; and a minimum of three years' experience in website writing/content management/design
Demonstrated experience creating, budgeting and measuring paid social media campaigns and paid search campaigns
Experience in digital analytics platforms (i.e. Google Analytics) and translating metrics to actionable insights
Experience creating responsive email content and templates
Strong written and oral communication skills, consulting skills, ability to develop effective, collaborative relationships, particularly with faculty, staff and students;
Proficiency in setting up organization social media sites and actively engaging others through it;
Proficiency in using social media management monitoring systems such as Crowdbooster, Socialflow, Bitly, Sprout Social, HooteSuite, etc.;
Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite;
Ability to manage time, operate efficiently, meet deadlines for all types of production, maintain multiple projects simultaneously, and deal with frequent interruptions;
Demonstrated inter-cultural competency.
Master's Degree in Communications, User Experience, Marketing, Web Design, Writing, Project Management, or related field;
Previous experience in higher education or similar type of nonprofit organization;
Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously, create clear and attainable project objectives, build project requirements, oversee the cost, time and scope of the projects, manage project constraints and communicate progress and end results.
Experience in audience segmentation and remarketing
Experience with photography and videography, including editing
Ability to develop and conduct training on best practices for social media
Proficiency in search engine optimization
Experience writing and editing for interactive media
Demonstrated knowledge of HTML and/or Drupal
Demonstrated knowledge of email marketing and CRM platforms, such as Campus Management, Connect, Right Now
Physical Requirements of the Job: Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
