To support the overall day to day operation of the Bioinformatics Core, a Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects, documentation, communication, organization and customer relations. Additionally, this position will have analytical responsibilities including developing project scopes, software tools, code, and training materials. Primary responsibilities among others include-
1- Project Management: Development, planning, implementation, documentation and evaluation of core initiatives 2-Core Operations- Facilitate use of visual control boards and other project management tools, manage documentation and files of the core, including grant applications 3- Analytical Support-Assess and develop scopes of work for projects, develop software tools and pipelines in an agile framework, work as part of inter-disciplinary teams to provide comprehensive solutions. other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to independently handle multiple tasks simultaneously with strict deadlines.
-proficient in programming languages (high level: Python, R, Julia, or Perl; low level: C, or FORTRAN) -proficient in an academic computing environment -able to use slurm -experience using linux & servers -modern data science experience -experience in Jupyter environments -familiarity of Docker/Singularity/Conda -organized, capable of maintain calendars and planning meetings -skilled in communication and communication tools -email -video conferencing -virtual team management tools (i.e. SharePoint, Trello) -instant messaging clients (i.e. Microsoft Teams, Slack)
Two years of project management experience. Familiarity with UNC systems, policies, and procedures. Experience working with university core facilities.
