The Email and Web Developer will be responsible for the creation and deployment of strategic and engaging emails, as well as project management for the email marketing program. The developer will also assist the Associate Director, Web and Email Strategy, with the design, development, and maintenance of websites that support Michigan Medicine fundraising efforts and initiatives.

Email Design and Development:
Creation of all email designs, working with existing templates and creating new templates
Responsible for coding and testing all mass email communications
Ensure all aesthetics are aligned with usability, accessibility, and web standards
Work with internal partners to translate strategies into exciting and thought-provoking designs while ensuring the consistency of Michigan Medicine branding
Website Design and Development:
Assist in design, development, and maintenance of websites for fundraising efforts and initiatives
Work with internal stakeholders to design and build online registrations forms
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with websites
Collaborate with team members to ensure web content is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date
Bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or design, or equivalent combination of education and experience
One to three years minimum experience with advanced HTML/CSS hand-coding skills with proficiency in email coding and experience creating responsive, personalized emails
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction
Strong work ethic, time management, and personal accountability
Ability to produce clearly written and documented code
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, written and oral communication skills
Ability to keep up with the industry standards and emerging trends and best practices in email and web development
Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Familiar with HTML email-rendering bugs and workarounds
Experience with Bootstrap framework
Experience with MailChimp or similar email service provider
Experience with CMS applications like Drupal or Wordpress
Basic understanding of PHP and object-oriented programming
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software, specifically Photoshop and Illustrator
