Information Assurance: Michigan Medicine
The Information Assurance: Michigan Medicine (IA:MM) team was established to protect systems, data, and identities that Michigan Medicine relies upon. The team educates and prepares staff and students for increasing cyber threats, and proactively mitigates IT security risks in partnership with the greater U-M community. The IA:MM team enables teaching, learning, research, and healthcare in a large, open environment by helping to balance risks and threats. IA:MM collaborates and coordinates with university efforts and participates in the development of university-wide security, compliance, and privacy strategies and strives to implement best practice cybersecurity efforts.

The U-M Michigan Medicine Information Assurance Program Office is seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of IT Project Manager Senior. This role will provide support in developing and managing a series of complex projects that are aimed at maturing our cybersecurity capabilities that are used throughout the academic medical center and across the three missions of research, education and patient care.
Under general direction, responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects. Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Interfaces with all areas affected by the project including end users, computer services, and client services. Defines project scope and objectives. Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables. Provides technical and analytical guidance to project team. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. Must have the ability to analyze a situation, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree.
Required Qualifications for Senior Position:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, information science, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Demonstrated extensive knowledge and expertise in IT project/program management, project financial analysis, and tools.
Demonstrated ability with budgetary planning and business case development.
Five years of demonstrated IT project management experience and outstanding attention to detail and follow-up, including a proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining deliverables such as project scope and plan, status reports, cost estimates, communication plan, presentations, risk management plan, milestone/project schedules.
Demonstrated experience with budget planning and conformance, determining project objectives and requirements, anticipating and solving problems, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse activities.
Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills dealing with both IT and non-IT experienced audiences, including a diverse range of students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Demonstrated ability to comprehend and integrate large-scale projects into overall strategic direction.
Demonstrated successful performance with independent problem solving, presentations, leadership, and coordinating and completing multiple tasks within and across departments to meet changing deadlines.
Required Qualifications for Intermediate Position:
5 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to work with some level of independence and to take initiative while remaining a strong team player.
Ability to learn strategic and conceptual analytical thinking and decision making skills, as well as adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to manage under deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
Good technical background/knowledge and good people skills and verbal/written communication skills.
Experience in creating and maintaining deliverables such as project scope and plan, status reports, cost estimates, communication plan, presentations, risk management plan, milestone/project schedules.
Three years of demonstrated IT project management experience and outstanding attention to detail and follow-up, including a proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Related experience including but not limited to process improvement (modeling, analysis, and redesign), client relationship management, working with technical team, systems development methodologies.
Experience working in agile project methodologies or lean processes.
Experience in IT operations or information security roles.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues, including HIPAA and HITECH.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
This is a term-limited appointment for 2 years.
