The Office of Communications and Public Affairs (OCPA) is seeking a senior writer to join the editorial team. The senior writer will be responsible for a wide range of writing and editing tasks. The senior writer will produce a high volume of short- and long-form editorial content for the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) website, Harvard Kennedy School Magazine, and other print and digital channels, often under tight deadlines. The candidate should be a compelling storyteller with excellent editorial judgement. The successful candidate must be creative, while also possessing the ability to assess and address the needs of multiple clients and content types. We expect the senior writer to build strong and productive working relationships both within OCPA and with our partners across the school. The candidate will need to work across communications teams (editorial, digital, and design) and be able to determine the tone and editorial direction of a wide range of print and digital writing projects. In addition, the individual should be able to work well independently and with faculty at Harvard Kennedy School, demonstrating curiosity about the work of the School. This position will be responsible for covering beats across the Kennedy School and for submitting content to University-wide publications, such as the Harvard Gazette. In addition to writing, the senior writer will be responsible for editing and should have a meticulous eye for detail and excellent knowledge of grammar and style conventions, including AP style.

Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field.
Minimum five years of professional writing and editing experience.
Master's degree preferred
Demonstrated professional experience as a writer, with experience in copy editing and proofreading
A meticulous eye for detail and accuracy
Ability to develop and write creative, compelling and accurate content in a variety of styles for diverse audiences and platforms, both print and online
Ability to exercise editorial judgment
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
