Senior Manager - Domestic Business Alliances Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Boston, MA
The Senior Manager of Domestic Business Alliances will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of affiliate relationships with healthcare systems, individual cancer centers and other healthcare entities and will oversee key initiatives outlined in agreements with these affiliates. This position will work with administrative and clinical leadership from across the Institute to ensure that all services available to affiliates are delivered in a manner consistent with legal agreements. At different times during each relationship, there may be opportunities to reassess the scope of a given relationship; the Senior Manager will act as the business lead for internal and external discussions to evaluate these opportunities and will be responsible for developing new business terms together with administrative leadership. This position will also be expected to lead implementation work for expanded relationships. The Senior Manager may also support other departmental efforts to pilot and expand one or more major strategic business initiatives
The Business Development team within Business Initiatives and Alliances reports to Director/ Sr. Director of Business Alliances. The team collaborates with potential partners, negotiates the business terms for agreements, communicates recommendations to drive decision-making, and provides ongoing relationship management for domestic affiliated institutional relationships including the development, implementation, and management of services.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with outside institutions and serve as a business partner for answering questions and fulfilling needs of external partners independently
Plan and facilitate meetings with various internal and external stakeholders to discuss possibilities for existing relationships
Facilitate consensus and articulates recommendations, options, and pros/cons for leadership decisions
Develop deliverables appropriate for senior leadership team
Create and maintain dashboards to communicate status, develop or gather meeting materials (agendas, presentations, etc.), record meeting decisions and action items, provide structured follow-up, and draft email responses as requested
Schedule and facilitate project-related workgroups with other departments and partner hospitals, develop project work plans, track completion status, manage key sections within the work plan, and identify potential issues
Draft business terms for legal agreements, provide edits, and circulate as necessary
Analyze quantitative and qualitative information
Perform additional duties as required; as the team grows areas of responsibility may change based on the business needs of the department and organization
It is expected that this role will eventually have 1-2 direct reports as the team grows.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required and MBA, MHA, MSPH or equivalent degree strongly desired.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in strategy, business planning, business development or project management in health care.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to work effectively with executive, physician, nursing, administrative and ancillary staff
Ability to inspire, engage, and influence others; ability to establish credibility with senior leaders and managers
Strong understanding of structures and dynamics within matrixed institutions, as well as multi-institutional relationships and complexities; knowledge of DFCI operations, processes and programs a plus
Operate with a high degree of confidentiality
Strong project management skills
High degree of flexibility and adaptability to manage change
Ability to solve problems independently, and use independent judgment in making decisions as appropriate
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities
