The Director, Clinical Program Development: Fetal Heart Monitoring Program and Member Education is a critical role that connects AWHONN content and services to members who are actively seeking online and classroom educational offerings. The position includes collaboration in and assisting to develop strategies with focus on identifying services and content to be used to meet the clinical education needs of members and customers. This individual has the ability to connect and collaborate with external and internal stakeholders, including education, technology, and marketing, to assure successful delivery and implementation of AWHONN online and classroom clinical education programs. This position is the clinical expert and leader for the AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Program. In conjunction with the Learning Development team, creates and executes strategies for continual review and enhancement of the AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring program and other member education offerings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Fetal Heart Monitoring Program
Leads Fetal Heart Monitoring Program content development, revision and evaluation
Collaborates with the Fetal Monitoring Program Operations team to include budget management, coordination with Instructors, technical writing and editing.
Manages ongoing evaluation of the overall quality and integrity of all Fetal Monitoring Program content and Instructor effectiveness, including site visits for real-time instructor evaluation.
Leads Instructor Trainer recruitment, and provides remediation and support for Fetal Heart Monitoring instructors
Member Online Education
Under the direction of the Senior Director for Learning Development, catalog existing and future online educational resources, including webinars into a comprehensive educational curriculum library
Work with necessary committees and leaders to identify, review, edit and update the content within the resource library when content changes, new programs/services are added and/or products are introduced
Monitor educational content in order to ensure online and classroom programs are up to date with the current content available, including the ongoing review of existing resources to identify if updates, edits or retirement are required
Facilitate and moderate educational webinars by collaborating with the Senior Project Manager for Learning Development to meet production timelines, working with subject matter experts, and assessing attendee feedback
In cooperation with AWHONN Online Education staff, ensure the resource library and applicable online components support strategic education initiatives
Ensure content consistency and quality through the use of online and classroom education best practices, templates and resources
Assist in writing, revising, and creating online and classroom learning activities and enduring educational materials in direct collaboration with subject matter experts and the online education team
Continuing Nursing Education
Participates in assessing clinical program needs of AWHONN members and groups to support the care of women and newborns.
Serves as a Nurse Planner and member of the AWHONN Provider Unit
Participates in evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of AWHONN programs, products and services.
Offers consultation for the development, dissemination and evaluation of perinatal and newborn-related evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, implementation toolkits, and other products that may offer innovative strategies to institutions and group purchases.
Maintains expertise in educational design and adult learning theories, assumes responsibility for implementing Accreditation Program criteria for selected educational activities.
Serves as clinical liaison to identified organizations as requested.
Keeps abreast of current clinical issues and research for continuing professional development, and integrates relevant findings and information as applicable for program development.
Performs other duties as required.
Provide and foster professional growth and development for the Manager of Clinical Program Development. Provide ongoing professional mentoring within the organization, assist in expansion of learning, translation of clinical expertise to non-clinical staff, provide tools to help build knowledge, skills, and growth capacity. Serve as a knowledgeable resource for new and current staff. Promote positive work environment for all staff and effectively collaborate with leadership team.
Works independently under the guidance of the Senior Director of Learning Development. Receives guidance on clarification and interpretation of policies of the organization. Work is periodically reviewed while in progress and/or upon completion. Will have one direct report: Manager, Clinical Program Development.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in nursing or equivalent and relevant graduate degree required.
Current, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse.
Experience as a Clinical Educator.
Experience as a Nurse Planner highly desirable.
At least ten years of recent clinical experience in obstetric or neonatal nursing (both highly desirable).
Leadership and Management experience
Budget Development Oversight experience
Certification in Fetal Heart Monitoring required.
Experience as an AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Instructor required.
Experience as an AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Instructor Trainer highly desirable.
Experience in leading quality improvement projects is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in project management.
Experience in innovative education program design, implementation and evaluation in an association setting highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and manage multiple priorities often under tight timelines.
Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated skill with attention to detail, quality and accuracy of output.
Demonstrated computer skills required, preferably using Microsoft Office Suites applications.
