The Associate Director, Design is a critical team member charged with defining & ensuring design and creative excellence for UChicago professional education brand and marketing capability.
Implements design best practices and frameworks, manages creative & design development, and ensures the quality, timing, and efficiency of all project work.
The Associate Director Design is a strategic, collaborative, and innovative professional with omnichannel design experience. They will champion design language, standards, while constantly evolving our design and creative capabilities.
Serve as creative point of contact for design intake, supporting account executives, UCPE stakeholders, and academic partners by communicating design standards, rationale, and resulting creative executions to meet project objectives.
Establish and maintain relationships with professional education teams, academic, recruitment, and marketing partners to ensure collaboration and information sharing for all marketing, creative, and communications projects.
Independently assess project design and creative requirements and communication goals to accurately align design direction and resources with project needs
Participate in strategic planning with colleagues across UCPE and academic departments, divisions, and programs to ensure brand compliance, design consistency, and achievement of common goals. Help partners to understand and apply brand and design standards and templates both strategically and tactically.
Ensuring overall client satisfaction and design quality with each execution with a detailed focus on brand cohesion, visual voice, production excellence, and team efficiency.
Grow and manage team of internal designers to inspire and evolve their capabilities. Review navigate resource and capacity constraints with project management team to ensure quality and effectiveness.
Ensure all creative projects, assets, and documents are archived following project completion. Build and develop asset library and process to leverage existing assets, templates, and tools.
Effectively managing project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved with project change request forms.
Clearly communicate and manage expectations for team members and stakeholders.
Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports to project leadership.
Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout project lifecycles.
Stay abreast of best practices regarding creative and marketing techniques and strategies in order to deliver best in class creative.

The Associate Director, Design will manage design resources including photo and video assets in support of all integrated marketing, recruitment, and enrollment projects. This person will align priorities, opportunities, and timelines to support a range of marketing activities.
The Associate Director, Design will implement and steward design standards, best, practices, and quality control for all work both internally and externally. In line with UChicagoâ™s brand voice and in collaboration with larger cross-divisional and departmental efforts, this position is responsible for developing campaign assets, collateral, and branding the under direction of team leadership.

Associate Director, Design will assist and educate decentralized recruitment and marketing professionals on UCPE design language, creative standards, and best practices to ensure cohesive and compelling creative work. This person will be a champion of the UChicago Professional Education brand and will grow and nurture a portfolio of partner/client relationships to deliver effective and inspiring creative assets.
Proficient in design team and resource management. Comfortable trafficking creative workflow and adjusting tasks based on priorities and team capacity.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of design techniques and creative operations.
Ability to determine, use, and apply persuasive methods to communicate creative rationale, concepts, while responding to feedback in a thoughtful consultative manner.
Knowledgeable in design and creative management best practices. Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, photography and video direction, and production design. Â
Experience leading and managing designers in support of a range of marketing and communications projects, including but not limited to integrated marketing campaigns, websites, direct marketing, and photo and video production.
Ability to implement and sustain effective design process to deliver excellent work on time and on budget.
Experience with vendor management for a range of project archetypes including websites, print collateral, digital, video and traditional campaigns.
Ability to present creative work to both technical and non-technical audiences.
1) Bachelor's Degree.
1) Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 4+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
