New York University School of Law has an opportunity for a design assistant in its Office of Communications. The successful candidate will assist in the production of various publications including the alumni magazine, brochures, e-newsletters, programs, and posters and the daily maintenance of the NYU Law Website. Must be very organized, detail- and deadline-oriented, and able to juggle priorities in a rapidly shifting environment. Excellent writing and verbal skills are necessary where the candidate will work closely with administrators and faculty.
Perform a wide range of clerical and general office duties, including maintaining database records of design projects, uploading, organizing and tagging photography in a digital asset management system, preparing and archiving photographs for news stories and other pages on our website, coordinating with print vendors and departments, scheduling photo shoots, liaising with photographers, art buying and research, assisting with social media and video efforts, budget administration and tracking, including processing invoices and purchase order requisitions. Respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the department’s activities and policies. Liaising and troubleshooting with internal IT office. Construct desktop publishing documents, including layout and integrating text with graphics. This is a clerical position, not a graphic design position.
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience: 3 years of office experience.
3 years of office experience in a design studio, art department or similar environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and desktop publishing applications in a Mac environment. Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding. Excellent proofreading, copy editing, design and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheets and Adobe Creative Suite 2019 (InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop, Illustrator), HTML, and Microsoft Office, Extensis Portfolio, all in a Mac environment. Proficiency in Drupal a plus.
