As our Director of IT Operations, you will provide day-to-day management and strategic direction for IT operations at the ISU Foundation. Your primary responsibilities will be to ensure prompt delivery and availability of network infrastructure operations, customer services and end-user support functions for the organization including system access, network connectivity, hardware functionality, application software and internet availability, and operational implementation of security controls and tools.
In This Role, You Will…
Supervise daily work of IT operations staff and students and provide leadership and direction to help desk services.
Create, oversee, and manage the IT operations budget and related hardware, software, and services expenditures.
Serve as a technical resource for peers and establish and maintain a professional working relationship with IT users, staff, campus partners, and external vendors.
Recommend, implement, and maintain the technology and network infrastructure, developing processes, policies, and procedures.
Plan for short- and long-term needs including application upgrades and infrastructure and participate on strategic initiatives to ensure that technology, infrastructure, and resources align to meet these needs.
Deliver high-quality customer service, assist with technology requests in organizational business plans, and provide end-user training as requested.
To Be Successful, You Will Need…
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or another technology-related field.
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in system administrations, IT service support, or IT infrastructure.
Strong oral/written communications and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical individuals.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications with the ability to learn job specific software.
Must properly handle confidential information and work well with a variety of personalities. Ability to use good judgement and diplomacy in various situations.
Ability to work closely with others in an office environment. Ability to effectively communicate goals and priorities to direct reports and to communicate in non-technical terms with end-users.
Must have good writing/editing skills and possess effective and strong presentation skills.
Excellent customer service skills. Ability to describe technical topics from a business perspective.

Required qualifications and expertise:
Experience in client-server computer environment which includes workstations and peripherals, mobile devices, networks, operating systems, desktop software applications, utility programs, and systems security.
Strong background in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and managing Microsoft Windows-based computers and servers in a networked environment. Strong understanding of Windows, Active Directory, DHCP, ADFS, DNS, and cloud services.
Must have a high level of technical knowledge and the ability to handle multiple detail-oriented strategic projects simultaneously in an organized manner.
Experience with Datacenter operations.
Ability to configure and maintain servers and workstations with appropriate security and data integrity.
Knowledge of help desk procedures and best practices.
Ability to apply technical / functional expertise, manage and improve processes, practice self-development, champion change and innovation, foster collaboration and inspire trust.
Three or more (3+) years of system administration and staff supervisory experience
Familiarity or expertise with VMware software in a virtual server environment
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office 365 suite including Microsoft SharePoint
Familiarity with network security tools, methods, and best practices
Project management expertise
