As our Director of Information Security, you will provide day-to-day management and strategic direction for the Information Security Program at the ISU Foundation, develop requirements for security control implementation, and test security controls.
In This Role, You Will…
Supervise daily work of Information Security staff members and students.
Create, oversee, and manage the Information Security budget and expenditures.
Serve as a technical resource for peers and establish and maintain a professional working relationship with IT users, staff, campus partners, and external vendors.
Recommend, implement, and manage information security functions to protect Foundation digital assets.
Plan for short- and long-term needs including security upgrades.
Oversee the implementation of controls, processes, policies, and procedures for the prevention, response, and recovery of information security breaches.
To Be Successful, You Will Need…
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or another technology-related field.
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in information security and security management.
Strong oral/written communications and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical individuals.
Word processing, database, and spreadsheet knowledge, excellent typing, good editorial skill, judgment, planning and diplomacy.
Must properly handle confidential information and work well with a variety of personalities.
Ability to work closely with others in an office environment. Ability to effectively communicate goals and priorities to direct reports and to communicate in non-technical terms with end-users.
Must have good writing skills and possess effective and strong presentation skills.
Excellent customer service skills. Ability to describe technical topics from a business perspective.

Required qualifications and expertise:
Experience in client-server computer environment which includes workstations and peripherals, mobile devices, networks, operating systems, desktop software applications, utility programs, and systems security.
Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS, IPS, Splunk, anti-malware, MDM, NAC.
Strong background in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and managing Microsoft Windows-based computers and servers in a networked environment. Strong understanding of Windows, Active Directory, DHCP, ADFS, DNS, and cloud services.
Network infrastructure management experience (switches, routers, firewall) as well as experience in managing virus scanning and spam filtering.
Ability to configure and maintain servers and workstations with appropriate security and data integrity.
Must have a high level of technical knowledge and the ability to handle multiple detail-oriented strategic projects simultaneously in an organized manner.
Ability to apply technical / functional expertise, manage and improve processes, practice self-development, champion change and innovation, foster collaboration and inspire trust.
Three or more (3+) years of system administration and staff supervisory experience
Professional security certifications such as CISSP, ITIL or SSCP
Familiarity or expertise with VMware software in a virtual server environment
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office 365 suite including Microsoft SharePoint
Project management expertise
