The Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a Full Time Medical Transcriptionist who will support the day-to-day administrative operations of the Surgical Pathology and Cytology Divisions within the Department of Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
The incumbent will:
Perform highly technical medical transcription requiring exceptional transcription and typing skills, including but not limited to pathology reports, medical histories, physical examinations, etc., involving a wide variety of medical terminology.
Type medical reports from rough draft, copy, tape, or digital dictation.
Communicate effectively and be able to respond to inquiries and requests for information requiring knowledge of departmental and university policies and procedures.
May perform some (less than 40% of time) secretarial and administrative duties for a medically related academic or administrative department.
Serve as an internal resource for our faculty, administrators, staff and students and perform transcription duties as requested.
Type and proof correspondence, memoranda, reports, proposals, technical papers, manuscripts, other documents and related materials for supervisor or department staff as requested.
Research and gather data for departmental reports. Conduct preliminary analysis of data.
Recommend report content and format to display findings most effectively.
