The Senior Student Recruitment Specialist position reports to the Dean and has primary responsibility for: (a) coordination of a recruitment plan in partnership with TEACH Kansas City, and (b) coordination of undergraduate student retention efforts. This position requires a commitment to building positive working relationships with high school, community college, and UMKC students, and a strong dedication to elevating the public status of the PK-12 teaching profession. The individual selected for the position will have experience with the delivery of student recruitment and retention in higher education, as well as engaging community partners in student recruitment activities. We are seeking candidates with strong skills in communication, collaboration, and customer relationship management.
Manage, plan, organize, and lead the implementation of the student recruitment plan, including digital marketing, on-campus visits, off-campus visits, and individual meetings with prospective students
Coordinate the student recruitment plan with community partners and organizations
Coordinate the student recruitment plan with student services, marketing, faculty, staff, students, and alumni
Continuously track and monitor student contacts, inquiries, and applications related to the student recruitment plan
Collect data on targeted outcomes of the student recruitment plan and evaluate its impact
Travel to high schools across the KC-metro area and other community organizations
Maintain ongoing outreach and communication with prospective students
Manage, plan, organize, and lead the implementation of the undergraduate student retention plan
Coordinate the undergraduate student retention plan with student services, faculty, staff, students, and alumni
Coordinate the student retention plan with student services, faculty, staff, school partners, and alumni
Continuously track and monitor student contacts and inquiries related to the student retention plan
Collect data on targeted outcomes of the student retention plan and evaluate its impact
Maintain ongoing communication with students related to retention activities
Serve on campus and/or school-wide committees
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of successful higher education recruitment, retention, and enrollment strategies at the undergraduate level
Evidence of excellent planning, organizational and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and basic software applications, and social media platforms
Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective public speaking and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to form strong working relationships with members of schools and other organizations in the community
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop collaborative team relationships with units across the UMKC campus]
Dynamic presentation skills
Excellent verbal and communication skills
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
A Master's degree in one of the above degree fields is preferred
Previous experience working or volunteering in a public Pk-12 school setting
One year of experience with student recruitment in a higher education setting
One year of experience with student retention in a higher education setting
Evidence of ability to utilize data to prioritize strategies
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse set of colleagues
Experience with Peoplesoft, Hobsons Starfish Retention Solutions, Canvas, Microsoft Office Suite, and Technolutions Slate
$16.92 - $23.80 per hour, commensurate with expereince.
