We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer I execute Quality Assurance (QA) activities as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Mitsubishi Electric Power Products (MEPPI) Uninterruptible Power Systems QA program.
In this role you will tasked with maintaining and improving the QA/QC program as defined in the Company’s Quality Policy Manual. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge and skills to implement preventive actions to reduce and/or prevent quality problems and to investigate quality problems by reviewing quality trends, tracking the root cause(s) of the problem(s), coordinating corrective actions and implanting appropriate adjustments. You will have the opportunity to communicate with new suppliers (materials & services) to familiarize them with MEPPI Quality Assurance procedures; valuate supplier quality and ability of quality assurance prior to the supplier being approved. To achieve success, you will interact with various levels of employees in Engineering, Sales, Operations and Service Departments to prevent and/or remedy quality problems. To accomplish this you will travel to customer and/or supplier locations to analyze and remedy quality problems, often traveling on short notice. You will coordinate customer and supplier visits and prepare documents to support customer and 3rd party audits. Maintaining contact with suppliers to discuss material specifications, service requirements, needs, and quality problems caused by material and/or subcomponents will be a key role in this position. In addition, you will be tasked to:
Develop and implement any required quality control policies, procedures, specifications, forms, checklists, reports, etc., for services, incoming material, and factory assembly, testing and shipping.
Approve test reports and inspection reports as required.
Develop procedures and implement program for calibration/certification of tools, test devices, etc.
Review suppliers’ quality assurance programs and assist them to meet MEPPI requirements.
Coordinate the resolution of material or service deficiencies and the disposition on non-conforming reports (MRRs).
Assist in Company’s ISO-9001 efforts. Lead internal audits.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, plus 0 to 2 years’ experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment or equivalent education and experience.
Basic knowledge of quality control, engineering, production, lean manufacturing, ISO 9001 and statistical methods and techniques.
Ability to use office and inspection equipment and tools, such as: PC, photocopier, fax machine, test equipment, micrometers, digital cameras, hardness tester, plating tester, micrometer, calipers etc.
Ability to communicate with others to complete work.
Ability to read drawings and to understand geometric dimensions and drawing tolerance symbols.
Ability to analyze data.
Ability to travel domestic and international (30% or more)
