NYU’s prestigious Leonard N. Stern School of Business has a challenging opportunity for a Senior Associate Director of Communications in the Public Affairs office. As a strong writer and story-teller, the selected candidate will develop and manage financial/business and higher education/b-school media relations, and content for Stern’s communication channels. S/he will develop and implement proactive, strategic media plans to increase school visibility, including conceiving story ideas, pitching ideas to appropriate press members, and acting as a point person for media inquiries. The selected candidate will also manage the team on developing and implementing digital strategies.
The selected candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree (MBA or Master’s degree preferred), at least 5 years' communications experience in financial/business media relations or an equivalent combination of education and experience and PR agency experience. Experience developing product/program positioning, and media plans, writing press releases, creating story ideas, and placing stories in national press is required. Experience supervising staff is also required. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a client service orientation; strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines; and strong written and verbal communication skills are critical. Experience using social media tools for marketing and public relations in an academic or corporate setting is also preferred.
