Reporting to the Associate Director for Public Services, the Course Reserves Assistant provides all phases of processing required for course reserve materials (online and print). The Course Reserves Assistant communicates with faculty regarding reserves and copyright restrictions. Working collaboratively within the department of Public Services, the Course Reserve Assistant works at the main service desk, providing circulation and patron assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties):
• Process physical and digital course reserve requests • Communicate with faculty on status of course reserve requests • Troubleshoot issues concerning requests or accessing materials • Communicate and collaborates with the Academic Compliant Officer regarding copyright and license questions. • As a member of Public Services, works at Circulation Desk. Assists with circulation of materials and patron support

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Training and Experience Required):
• Associate’s degree • Two years’ experience in library access services, such as Interlibrary Loan, Reserves, Circulation • Must have working knowledge of library computer systems, circulation functions and on-line catalog searching. • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, processes, and tools
• Understanding of copyright and licensing issues
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
• Position covers evening and weekend hours, 20-25 hours per week. • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time. • Ability to lift and transport light to medium weight objects, up to 20 lbs., such as books, supplies and file boxes. •Ability to work weeknight hours and Sunday days
