Information Telecommunications Support Specialist (1904360) - Beachwood, OH
Where the Chemistry Happens
The IT Telecomm Service and Support Specialist as a member of BASF's Construction Chemicals Americas (CCA) IT team, will work in close collaboration with end users, regional IT, and 3rd party / outsourcing provider(s) to oversee and manage all aspects of telecommunications operations and support that are not provided by CCA's 3rd party outsourcing services provider. This position will report to the Director, Information Technology, Americas Region.
Will work across the CCA regional IT team, providing telecom-related assistance to all Local IT Managers at locations across the region.
Managing telecom voice/data circuits not included in the WAN - including all associated vendors and any outage / incident occurrences on a 24x7 basis.
Working with these telecom providers directly; opening trouble tickets as required with the associated vendors and working with them to resolution.
Seamlessly coordinate activities with the 3rd party outsourcing provider; which could include involvement in outage-related service restoration work as well as any telecom-related problem/incident/change management activities.
Provisioning, replacing, tracking cellular phones along with the vendors involved
Provide Unified Communications (UC) support at the regional and local levels (eg. Microsoft Teams)
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Formula for Success
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Management, Information Systems, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
5+ years of broad IT telecommunications support experience - past work with Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-x vendors in this space. Provider experience in Canada, USA, and all LATAM countries. Experience with voice/ data, circuits, utilization / bandwidth, ethernet, routers, switches / switching, wi-fi, telecom monitoring / tools, security considerations, SD/WAN, MPLS, TCP/IP, VOIP, UC, LEC, etc.
Experience in 3rd party vendor management (including past experience working in an outsourced IT model)
Excellent knowledge of the telecommunications industry - WAN, LAN, LEC technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
Strong project planning skills and experience in project management
Proficient in oral and written local language(s) and English
Strong facilitation/communication (written and oral) skills - capable of interacting with and managing meetings with various functional and technical stakeholders,
Has a strong sense of autonomy, responsibility, and values accuracy and precision
Highly organized; has project planning / project management experience
Highly proficient in oral and written communications
Has a continuous-improvements mindset towards current & future asset lifecycle management processes and execution
