The Leelanau School is seeking a Director of Admissions responsible for attracting, enrolling, and retaining a student population consistent with The Leelanau School’s mission. The Director of Admissions is an essential part of the leadership team. This position will begin summer 2020.

Its beautiful and historic campus is situated within the Leelanau Peninsula on the shores of Lake Michigan. Represent the philosophy and mission of the School to prospective and current students and families.
Understand the Leelanau student experience, the social climate, and objectives of the school’s Academic and Residential programs.
Recruit and retain appropriate students and families who will benefit from the School’s mission and contribute to the school community.
Meet enrollment goals and objectives.
Enact policies and procedures to ensure integrity, confidentiality, and transparency in all admissions processes.
Collaborate with our marketing director on communication strategies, methods and materials to market the school, including print, web and digital platforms
Track prospective students and coordinate the collection and retention of all necessary application documentation.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international educational consultants.
Organize and manage the Admissions Committee to ensure timely and objective evaluation of all prospective students.
Plan and implement admission programs such as student visits, orientations, admission interviews, tours, and other related activities
Communicate professionally and enthusiastically to all prospective families, educational consultants, and other schools as a representative of The Leelanau School.
Communicate final admission decisions and enrollment contracts to parents.
Facilitate the awarding of scholarships and financial aid.
Facilitate re-enrollment process of current students for the succeeding year.
Keep relevant statistics on all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment program.
Manage enrollment and recruitment information and communication using customer relationship management (CRM) software.
Demonstrate sensitivity and cultural competency in relation to economic, cultural and other identifiers present in the enrollment of a diverse student body.
Serve as a liaison to the Board of Trustees regarding admissions and enrollment information.
Attend board meetings and prepare and present reports with pertinent data.
Create and manage the Admissions budget.
Engage with current students, parents, and faculty as an active and visible participant in the educational experience at The Leelanau School.
Participate as an administrative team member, contributing to all aspects of school administration and decision-making.
Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Head.
Respect for learners and a passion for their social, emotional, and intellectual development.
Experience in communicating with parents.
Expertise in adolescent development that can be effectively applied in student and parent communication.
Prior experience as a Director of Admissions or experience in a similar position.
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of related work experience.
Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
Proven experience attaining short and long term enrollment goals.
A respected reputation and experience working with domestic and international educational consultants.
An understanding of the independent school world.
Experience with effective use of CRM systems (Hubspot preferred) and productivity software (e.g Microsoft Office, Google suite).
A high degree of self-motivation, attention to detail, and effective organizational skills.
An outgoing, charismatic, and sales-oriented presence.
Successful clearance of FBI and local background checks.
