This position is responsible for leading the media production function of Fighting Irish Media (FIM) within Notre Dame Athletics. This leader will work closely with a cohesive team of professionals within Fighting Irish Media to deliver on its mission to educate, elevate and empower student-athletes while inspiring fans and future generations to forever engage in the Notre Dame experience. In coordination with the leaders of the other FIM functional teams (Communications, Operations, Media Partnerships and Innovation & Design), they will champion efficient and timely execution of the work to the expectations of the organization. Supporting the matrixed structure of FIM's sport content pods, they will interface directly with coaches, administrators and staff within Athletics to empower the production work of the pods. This leader will have responsibility for a team of 10-15 full-time staff as well as numerous freelance, on-call/temporary and student employees. They will oversee the strategic planning, creative alignment and resource management of three key video production areas: 1) in-venue video board shows for Football, Volleyball, Men's & Women's Basketball and Hockey, 2) digital and linear live event broadcasts for NBC Sports/NBCSN, ESPN/ACCN and Notre Dame platforms (und.com/Fighting Irish App/etc.) as well as 3) long and short-form feature and social video productions for all 26 athletic teams. The routine production of other emerging and new media will fall within their responsibility as that content becomes an established priority. As a point of contact for the University in coordinating non-Athletics content for use on Athletics platforms, this leader will establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across campus. Additionally, they will serve as a contact for 3rd-party media production projects and initiatives while stewarding production relationships with external partners, including NBC Sports, ESPN, and others. Fighting Irish Media, as the media and brand function for Notre Dame Athletics, exists to educate, elevate and empower student-athletes while inspiring fans and future generations to forever engage in the Notre Dame experience. Supporting that mission is a diversely talented team of nearly 40 full-time creative communicators and dozens more freelance, on-call/temporary and student collaborators. Working closely with partners across campus (Office of Public Affairs and Communications, Notre Dame Studios, etc.) and in the media industry (NBC Sports, ESPN, etc.), FIM creates rich and compelling content across multiple platforms and formats. Fighting Irish Media is an award-winning organization with perennial accolades including Emmys, SVG Awards and CoSIDA Awards.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (4 years) and at least 5 years of experience in the field of video production as well as 2 years of experience leading teams. Demonstration of strategic and creative thinking to achieve results on deadline within budget and to plan. Excellent communication and writing skills. Demonstration of leadership under pressure and in complex environments.
