Here is what you can expect from being a TraumaPI Coordinator with us:
The Trauma Performance Improvement Nurse Coordinator(PI Coordinator) works in collaboration with trauma program leadership toimprove the quality of trauma care encompassing all departments and disciplinesof the hospital that participate in the care of injured patients. Thisposition provides coordination and facilitation of performance improvement datacollection, analysis, trending, and benchmarking of data andoutcomes based upon the American College of Surgeons recommendations forquality as it relates to maintaining trauma center verification. Italso collaborates with trauma program leadership to ensure compliance with traumastandards and guidelines in accordance with current State of Colorado andthe American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP).
This position uses analytical and clinicalnursing expertise to facilitate efficient, effective, quality care for thetrauma population across the continuum. It collaborates with theentire multi-disciplinary team to provide case management for trauma patients,maximize patient outcomes, and enhance customer satisfaction. Thisrole requires additional responsibilities related to promotion of traumastandards of care according to nationally accepted American College ofSurgeon's (ACS) guidelines and assists in continual ACS verificationreadiness as directed by the trauma program leadership.
This position acts as a resource to the TraumaProgram Manager, Trauma Nurse Coordinators, Trauma Medical Director, traumasurgeons, and hospital administration for analyzing and reporting registry dataand performance improvement trends.
In consultation with the Trauma Program Manager, theTrauma PI Coordinator is responsible for documenting the Quality Improvementactivities in a manner that is commensurate with recommendations by alllicensing and regulating bodies, assisting with Trauma Committee work, and thedevelopment of opportunities to communicate trauma department activities toothers. Must possess a broad range ofskills including communication, leadership, critical thinking, and traumaclinical patient care skills.

Currentlicensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current activemultistate nursing licensure.

Preferred:TNCC provider, ACLS through AHA, BLS through AHA, ENPC or PALS
Education and Experience:
Fouror more years of experience in a Level I or Level II trauma program verified bythe American College of Surgeons.
TraumaRegistry experience required. Two to three years of nursing experience criticalcare, and/or an emergency department, with increasing responsibility andinterest in trauma care.
Previous supervisory leadership and teachingexperience helpful.
Experience in performance improvement required.
Proficiencywith the Microsoft Office Suite compliment of programs
Experiencewith Digital Innovation (DI) Trauma Registry helpful
Excellentcomputer skills necessary to manage and manipulate a large database
Knowledgeof the surgical and trauma patient care environments
Proficiencyin the review and abstraction of clinical patient information from a medicalrecord
Mathematicalability necessary to validate and analyze data
Mustdemonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationshipswith physicians, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Abilityto communicate clearly and concisely in either written or verbal formats
Keenanalytical and critical thinking skills to review patient care cases forperformance improvement and quality assurance to facilitate the enhancement ofpatient care as well as recognize outstanding clinical achievements by teammembers
Abilityto hold in confidence any information regarding patients, personnel, or anyother confidential matters.
