Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation (Southlake Foundation) Southlake Foundation was established in 1980 and has been the fundraising partner to Southlake Regional Health Centre (Southlake) ever since, working with our donors and volunteers to build healthy communities and to shape the future of healthcare. Located in the heart of York Region, Southlake is a full-service hospital with a regional, clinically advanced focus. As a regionally designated site, Southlake is responsible for developing and providing advanced levels of care to the more than one million people who reside in York Region, Simcoe County, and as far north as Muskoka. Advanced, specialty services include: arthritis care, cancer care, cardiac care, cataract surgery, child and adolescent eating disorders, mental health services for children, paediatrics and perinatal care, and thoracic surgery.
The Position Building on more than two successive years of fundraising success, and with a new strategic plan guiding our future growth, we are looking for an entrepreneurial fundraising leader to join our team as Manager, Events. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Donor Experience, the Manager, Events is a key member of the team, providing leadership to all Foundation fundraising events and Third Party events and delivering on the Foundation’s “Signature Events” (Run for Southlake, Southlake SHIFT Gala and Golf). This includes revenue development, event execution and attendee and sponsor stewardship. This position has a significant role in supporting the overall revenue strategy of the Foundation to achieve targeted revenues from various events organized throughout the year, including peer-to-peer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, implement and manage an overall strategy for Events portfolio and review on an annual basis, including budget creation and management
Plan and execute successful Signature Events including catering, day-of-event logistics, vendor management, appropriate donor and sponsor recognition
Generate revenue through corporate sponsorship for each Signature Event, collaborating across team and acting as Foundation staff lead to identify, solicit, execute and steward all sponsors
Deepen community engagement and strategically grow revenue
Provide leadership to the events portfolio, working closely with the Community Events Officer and the Events Assistant to meet and exceed ambitious fundraising goals
Participate as a key team member that is committed to achieving significant revenue growth each year
Qualifications and Experience
Post-secondary education with a focus on Events Planning, Marketing, Fundraising, Sales or other applicable disciplines
7 years of progressive experience working in fundraising and events with demonstrated experience executing high-profile fundraising events, including peer-to-peer events
Demonstrated success in strategically raising significant funds with and through others with a proven track record of achieving fundraising goals
Experience in a not-for-profit healthcare philanthropy organization a definite asset
Experience in moves management within an event portfolio and to major gifts
Excellent written and oral communications
Exceptional project management skills
Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze trends from quantitative and qualitative data
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit; experience leading a team considered an asset
Demonstrated volunteer management
Proficient in the use of all corporate productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer as well as Raiser’s Edge or other donor database management systems
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and be self-motivated in a high pressure and demanding work environment
Professionalism, judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters essential
Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of Southlake Foundation
Ability to work flexible work hours as required
Southlake Foundation offers a competitive compensation package, including a benefits package that with a defined-benefit pension program. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
