Reporting to Princeton University’s Executive Director of Campus Development, the Senior Project Manager, Campus Development, will play a critical role within the Office for Capital Projects in the development of new facilities and infrastructure, including in the university’s East Campus and future Lake Campus
The planned campus developments will include new academic, administrative, athletic and commercial facilities as we as campus amenities. . To support these projects, new site infrastructure, including roads, pathways, parking, underground utilities, and storm water treatment strategies will be necessary. The Senior Project Manager, Campus Development, will manage discreet projects in connection with this development, including major site development projects ranging from $25K to over $150M.
The position is available for a term of 3 years with the possibility for renewal. The position is fully eligible to receive the extensive benefits that Princeton offers its administrative workforce.
The Senior Project Manager, Campus Development will represent the University’s interests throughout the design and construction process and will be responsible for the coordination of the University’s efforts and the communication plan for the project, including users, leadership, stakeholders, and external consultants and builders. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Campus Development, and University stakeholders, the Senior Project Manager, Campus Development, will also manage consulting firms working on project design and construction, and will facilitate the turnover and acceptance of project elements to Facilities Operations.
The Senior Project Manager, Campus Development, will maintain portfolio reports for work assigned, keeping project information in departmental reporting systems up-to-date (SharePoint, financial reporting, and project status reporting), and should be familiar with digital tools, including CADD, BIM, Primavera schedule platforms, excel and similar data-management formats.
Coordinating with the project stakeholders in the creation of the project parameters (including the value proposition, preliminary project objectives, standards, target costs and schedules).
Serving as primary project liaison and shepherding the development of the programmatic objectives within the projects in consultation with, user group(s) and other university stakeholders including the Office of the University Architect.
Managing large project teams through the design and construction process and securing project approvals, while ensuring compliance with standards, quality assurance and progress.
Coordinating the project schedule with University stakeholders to meet the agreed-upon milestones and overall schedule; managing the project budget, coordinating cost estimates and controlling project costs.

The Senior Project Manager, Campus Development, must have a degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline. A minimum of 10+ years of design, construction management and budgetary experience is required.
These requirements include the ability to lead, collaborate, negotiate and otherwise interact effectively with a range of subject-matter experts, including architects, engineers, specialty consultants, contractors, financial specialists, legal counsel and developers.
More specifically, the Senior Project Manager, Campus Development, must have a working knowledge of the principles of civil engineering and design and construction. The position must also have general knowledge of construction industry practices and procedures, be able to interpret construction documents, and possess a general understanding of applicable construction codes and land use ordinances.
Professional registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of New Jersey is preferred
Licenses and Professional Accreditation
LEED AP, WELL AP and/or PMP certifications
Basic knowledge of CAD, Revit and BIM
