POSITION TITLE: Director of Library and Learning Commons
DEPARTMENT: Library and Learning Commons, Academic Affairs
REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Library and Learning Commons
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Library and Learning Commons staff located in Attleboro, New Bedford, and Taunton locations.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Director of Library and Learning Commons will collaborate with the Associate Dean to provide leadership and direction for the Bristol Library and Learning Commons, as well as assist in the overall administration and day-to-day operation of the Bristol Library and Learning Commons in the Attleboro, New Bedford, and Taunton locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Associate Dean in developing, establishing, implementing, and reviewing policies for providing Library and Learning Commons services at the Attleboro, New Bedford, and Taunton locations and online learning environments.
Hire, supervise, develop, and lead assigned Library and Learning Commons staff. Conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement and identify potential opportunities for growth. Work closely with Human Resources to create talent development plans and implement appropriate performance improvement plans.
Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the professional growth of staff while fostering a commitment to service excellence.
Support Library and Learning Commons staff to provide effective tutoring and writing support services, according to the standards of the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
Promote the Library and Learning Commons at all campus locations.
Promote faculty involvement with the Library and Learning Commons services and curriculum.
Assist the Associate Dean in developing, establishing, implementing, and reviewing policies for the selection and acquisition of materials to support the educational and informational needs of students, faculty, and academic programs, as well as administrative and support staff.
Work with Information Technology leadership to provide the Library and Learning Commons with appropriate computer technology, connectivity, and capacity to meet the needs of students and faculty.
Assist in developing and administering annual operating budget of Library and Learning Commons.
Facilitate staff meetings and serve on college committees/councils as required.
Assist in developing long-range plans, cost projections, space and staffing needs for the delivery of Library and Learning Commons services.
Maintain statistics and prepare reports.
Represent management in union-related concerns, including grievances.
Develop, propose, and administer grants related to the provision of Library and Learning Commons services.
Use digital communication tools, to include but not limited to; email, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media tools, to advance Bristol's social media outreach and brand to internal and external constituents.
Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of Master's degree in Library Science.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an academic leadership role.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required.
The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a union environment.
Proficiency with database software, such as Tutortrac.
Demonstrated knowledge and consistent experience in using varied social media outlets on behalf of a business or organization that has proven to increase the digital footprint of the organization's brand.
Robust understanding and demonstrated inclusion of access, equity and student success practices.
Ability to speak a language in addition to English.

POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends required.
SALARY: Hiring salary $70,000 - $75,000, commensurate with education and experience.
