Creates, implements and evaluates effective marketing strategies as part of the Communications team for Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Laboratory, Ohio State’s Island Campus; develops a wide variety of electronic and written materials including news releases, e-promotions and the creation of Stone Lab’s marketing campaign, aimed at promoting and increasing recognition of the programs; leads social media efforts for program, researching best practices and incorporating new innovative approaches in social media to enhance program visibility and student recruitment; leads digital media development for program, including creating videos of program impacts, student spotlights and faculty features; assists with the creation of website content; and writes articles for program’s magazine and other publications; position requires some travel to Stone Lab, Put-in-Bay, Ohio as well as other destinations.

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 1-3 years of professional experience in publication writing; excellent verbal and written communications skills; experience in writing web content; experience with digital communications, such as content management systems, video, and e-newsletters; experience with social media engagement. Requires successful completion of a criminal background check.
Experience in marketing-related field; branding experience; photography and video experience; basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite); experience with content management systems, especially Drupal.
