The Media and Market Consultant reports directly to the University Brand and Strategy Officer and is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of integrated media planning and execution from start to finish. The Media and Market Consultant develops strategic media plans based on strong target audience and media mix analyses, and delivers media plans that effectively and efficiently maximize exposure.
Liaises on a regular basis with all key central marketing leaders, the IU Communications internal agency, external vendors, and internal university clients (schools, units, and regional campuses). Builds relationships with clients and interacts with clients on an ongoing basis to ensure assigned projects are progressing per schedule, and identifies business development opportunities. Has opportunity to recommend, build, and manage the key external media planning vendor network for the university.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field and five years of relevant media planning experience at an advertising or media agency.
Extensive experience with the media planning process and delivery of effective plans. Operational experience and comfort in planning both traditional (print, TV) and non-traditional (digital, mobile) media platforms. Media vendor relationship building and negotiation experience. Knowledge of media planning tools including Simmons, MRI, Scarborough, and Kantar. Effective time management skills including the ability to meet aggressive and changing deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and problem solving skills including the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple ongoing projects. Excellent communication skills including ability to exchange information using a variety of mediums (email, phone, in-person). Demonstrated interpersonal skills including ability to manage client relationships and maintain a strong client service orientation. Ability to work in a highly motivated, self-directed capacity. Ability to work independently and as part of a functional team.
Eight years of relevant experience. Higher Education and/or Consumer Goods experience. Media software proficiency and Google Analytics or AdWords experience.
