The purpose of the pre-award portion of this position is to prepare the documentation that is required for research grant proposals. The post-award portion of the position includes award notification, working with Principal Investigators on appropriate spending of grant funds, monitoring the related grant accounts, and assistance with hiring and training certain grant-funded personnel. This position will also provide support to the Associate Dean for Research and to the Director of Research Operations in carrying out the research and scholarship mission of the School of Nursing.
Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience in grant management, budgeting, proposal preparation, supervising, evaluating, hiring/firing, developing staff, and/or project management.
Proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, e-mail, and electronic calendaring. Knowledge of basic navigation in web/internet based applications required. Demonstrated judgement, analytical, and problem solving skills. Excellent written and interpersonal skills to interact with all stakeholders- principal investigators, sponsors, all levels of administration, staff, and other various university departments/schools, and external agencies. Proficiency in electronic proposal development and submission systems (both sponsor-provided and University's internal). Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Experience in higher educational setting. Knowledge of NIH and other external funding agency policies and regulations. Knowledge of health care industry. Knowledge of University Administrative Systems (financial, grant management, time keeping, data extraction, report writing, purchasing), and knowledge of university policies and procedures.
