Position Description: The University of the Pacific invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Digital Media Foundations that will hold a 50% appointment in the Communication Department and a 50% appointment in the Media X Department to begin August, 2020. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach courses in the following areas: visual communication, digital production methods, digital storytelling, web-based technologies and design, video and audio production foundations, and other courses contributing to the Communication, Media X, Art and Design undergraduate majors and the Communication M.A. program.
Experience in new forms of digital media, visual communication, and skills in creating media from concept to final delivery are essential; a portfolio or demonstration of research projects is a plus.
An active research agenda in Communication is expected. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Communication or a terminal degree in a related field, and a demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduates.
Basic Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Requirements include a terminal degree or ABD in Communication, or a related field.
Additional Qualifications: Additional Qualifications: Collegiate level teaching in the field and a creative / research agenda in the Communication field.
Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
