Position will provide computational bioinformatics services for faculty, staff and students. These services include but are not limited to genome or transcriptome assembly, SNP and variant analysis, differential gene expression, added-value annotation and/or visualization of results, statistical tests, integration of multiple data sources, and custom programming.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree Computational Biology, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative field. More than five years' experience in a related quantitative field. Proficiency with two programming languages required, one of which must be Perl or Python.
Work history will demonstrate a high level of analytical capability. Competent in more than one programming language (one must be Perl or Python); working knowledge of the Linux operating experience; Strong communication and writing skills. Must be able to easily communicate the technical solutions put forth to a non-technical audience.
Ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field. Two years' experience working in R/Bioconductor or Matlab preferred. Experience running large workflows on HPC and HTC clusters. Experience in current bioinformatics tools and applications. Experience in metagenomics and/or structural biology. Experience collaborating with subject matter specialists in the general area of life sciences. Prior Experience working in biology-related sciences and/or a high-throughput sequencing data analysis.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of faculty, staff and students across different areas and levels of expertise (both experimental and computational). Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously; work independently as well as part of a team; strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
Posted Salary: $45,000/yr minimum
