Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Assistant Facilities Manager assists the senior Facilities management team in daily operations and project management tasks as assigned. Responsible for work in all four Harvard Art Museums properties, but is primarily assigned to 32 Quincy Street property. Collaborates with operations staff to complete work orders. Works with operations staff and end-users on event management. Interacts with custodial staff to deliver safe and clean environment for museums guests and staff. Solicits trade work bids and manages small projects in museum environment. Solicits, bids, and awards contract to a variety of vendors and oversee budget, schedule, and scope for these projects. Works with Facilities Manager to schedule HVAC, lighting and shade requirements. Assists in establishing and overseeing processes needed for maintenance, emergency repairs, safety programs, renovations. Other duties as assigned.
Critical/Essential Status - During emergency situations and severe inclement weather this position is designated as essential and critical to the operations of the Museums. On call availability for overnight and weekend emergencies required.
Some evening, early morning and weekend hours may be required.

Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:
Minimum of two years of building operations experience.
College degree preferred. Experience in a college or university setting strongly preferred. Cultural property experience desired as is experience supervising full-time employees and leading teams. Experience with Union contractors preferred. Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities, set priorities, take initiative, and meet deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Flexible and problem solving attitude with a customer service orientation. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, and Excel, e-mail programs, computerized work order systems, BMS, and Siemens automated controls Familiarity with automated lighting, shade and audio/visual systems a plus. Knowledge of HVAC and MEP systems preferred. Must be CAD proficient. Familiarity with Space Management software preferred.
