The Program Head in the Film program at Central Washington University (CWU) is expected to prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to success equity, respect for diversity, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. The faculty member will be excited about taking on a leadership role to drive programmatic growth and cultivate media makers through immersive educational programs in the art, technological craft, and business of digital storytelling. The successful candidate will work with the College to facilitate success in recruitment and admissions, course scheduling, facilities and equipment management, personnel issues, development, and other duties as assigned.
MFA or Ph.D. in Film, Media, or related field;
Proven administrative experience, including personnel management;
Demonstrated experience in program and curriculum development in higher education;
Equipment management/control experience;
Demonstrated experience in faculty development;
Proven ability to teach across multiple levels, from introductory to advanced courses;
Professional experience in film and/or television production, including working on set;
Interpersonal skills to engage and work with diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
Demonstrated record of university level teaching experience;
Experience having performed a substantial creative role in a distributed feature, documentary, or commercial production;
Strong cinematography and post-production skills;
Demonstrated ability of managing complex budgets, including equipment planning, software upgrades, and hardware needs.
