Reports To: Manager of AV Media Services Supervises: Student Staff
Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Manager of AV Media Services, participate in a broad range of administrative and technical functions; plan, organize and supervise the basic operation of audio-visual for campus events, including the management of student staff; schedule, consult and coordinate with customers (faculty, students, staff) regarding their audio-visual needs; deliver set up/break down and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment; purchase, maintain and repair equipment inventory and classrooms.
Essential Job Functions:
AV/Media Services Administration
Participate in the development of integrated project plans, implementation schedules, and cost estimates for major, long-term AV Media Services technology projects; perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.
Participate in development and implementation of policies and procedures of the AV Media Services office.
Communicate regularly with Manager of AV Media Services regarding the status of current project initiatives; obtain executive guidance and approval as required to advance initiatives.
Participate in the work to hire, supervise, train and provide direction to student staff. Assign, review, prioritize and schedule work.
Institutional AV/Media Services
Operate a variety of Audio-Visual, theatre and office equipment.
Process equipment reservations, checkouts, and service requests.
Demonstrate to users the proper use of Audio-Visual equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, R&R, install and make repairs to equipment and classroom installations.
Video record events as requested, and edit footage accordingly.
In coordination with the Technical Director of the Art & Technology Department, facilitate the checkout and management of that department's video production equipment, which has a separate and unique set of policies and protocols. Respond to technical inquiries from students regarding camera and editing system function and usage.
Event AV/Media Services
Participate in scheduling the delivery, set up, operation, and break down of audio-visual equipment, e.g., data (computer), video and other projection systems; sound systems for small and large venues. Adjust and troubleshoot equipment problems. Consult with customers (student, faculty, staff) regarding their audio-visual needs.
Participate in the coordination of audio and internal video requirements for major college events, such as Commencement and Convocation, and some internal events on campus, or for support of external programs arranged by the college Events department.
Participate in the setup and break down of audio-visual equipment for presentations and events.
Provide off hour and weekend events support.
Participate in the coordination of campus video streaming needs for events.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a broad knowledge of analog and digital technology, equipment, and/or systems; participate in professional development activities as appropriate.
Research products, solutions, and industry trends for AV Media Services hardware, software, and desktop server products.
Advise and facilitate acquisition of new equipment for other departments and offices.
Prepare and maintain databases, records and reports related to AV Media Services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Principles and elements of sound, video and computer technology, analog and digital video/sound systems
Contemporary video production and editing techniques
Federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software and media

Manipulate a number of standard computer applications (MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Filemaker, internet browsers) as well as some specialized applications (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Audacity)

Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified OR at least 6 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
At least two years' experience in film, video, music recording or technical theater, preferably in an academic setting.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands:
Work sometimes requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as climbing, lifting and carrying heavy objects over 50 pounds, and crawling under furniture.
All of the campus will need to be visited by walking, climbing, or driving.
Interruptions and meeting with a variety of people will be required on a regular basis.
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress.
Frequent evenings, weekends and variable hours required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an FTE of 1.0. Hourly rate is commensurate with experience, and includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with college-matching after 6 month qualifying period, 10 days of vacation for year one, 15 days of vacation for years 2-10, and 22 days of vacation years 10+ plus, 12 sick days and 17 paid holidays (subject to annual review). Staff members also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period. Voluntary benefits include: pet insurance, long-term care insurance, legal-assistance insurance, cellular provider discounts and computer hardware discounts.
