The Associate Director of Experiential Learning and Practicum is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and administration of the Sixth Experiential Learning Program, including program planning, development, implementation, assessment, and strategic vision. This requires working closely with UCSD faculty, departments, and programs, to identify, develop, and expand experiential opportunities and with students to help them find or define appropriate projects; working closely with other College units, including Academic Advising and Student Affairs, to integrate the curricular and co-curricular aspects of College life; for assisting in supervising the Academic Programs staff; and for participating in various college and campus-wide events and committees. Opportunities for expansion include exploration of off-campus partners. The Associate Director is also responsible for helping to formulate and implement the strategic vision of the Sixth College academic programs in general; and for obtaining extramural funding for experiential learning opportunities. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Academic Programs.
The Associate Director of Experiential Learning and Practicum would also serve as Instructor of Record, teaching one to three sections of CAT in each academic quarter.
This is an academic-year (9-month) appointment with the eligibility of continued appointment per UC guidelines. The Academic Coordinator appointment has the eligibility for reappointment and merit every 2 years.
Hiring Salary Range: $53,304-$76,627 (Salary commensurate with experience) *Teaching in the summer as additional compensation may be considered.
A Ph.D. or terminal degree in Education, Composition/Rhetoric, Visual Arts, English, Cultural Studies, Student Affairs or a related field is required at the time of appointment

Leadership experience within a higher education setting in a role requiring frequent interaction with faculty, staff, students, and alumni
Demonstrated experience in student community engagement and coordinating experiential/service learning programs
Experience in coordinating with undergraduate colleges or academic departments in support of experiential/service learning opportunities and supporting the administration of a large, public higher education organization
A record of successful teaching in writing and communication at the college level
An ability to work effectively with students representing diverse backgrounds, interests, and levels of preparation
Demonstrated experience and commitment in areas contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity in an academic setting.
