Carilion Innovation (CI) is newly established and set on becoming one of the world’s leading Innovation centers within a healthcare system. Our metrics center on tangibly improving the health of our community through growing and establishing startups, as well as creating next-gen products and services.
The Licensing Manager (LM) will have the unique opportunity to vanguard the licensing capabilities and processes at Carilion. The LM guides and executes the full arch of commercialization: advising intake and assessment, determining the best path forward (e.g. spin out or licensing to established company) and patent strategy, developing go-to-market plan, outreach, and negotiates commercial agreements. Following a hub-and-spoke model, the LM will have access to expert resources: IP counsel, marketing, prior art, regulatory, internal stakeholders (e.g. IT, clinical and executive leadership, general counsel) and others as needed or identified by the LM.
Ideal candidates can easily shift and ensure continuity between vision, strategy, execution, and metrics; are confident, down-to-earth, intellectually curious and thrilled at executing; and know when to use their instincts and when to be data-driven.
