The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Medicine, Vascular Medicine Institute of is seeking a Research Project Coordinator.
The Benign Hematology Research Management Team for the Hematology Section at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine is conducting multiple studies in the field of benign hematology with a specialization and focus on sickle cell disease. This team is seeking to fill a research project coordinator position to assist with pilot, large-scale, multi-site and federally funded research studies. The position will entail data entry and management and familiarity with statistical methods and statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS) to analyze data and generate useful reports. A knowledge of multivariable regression models is required.
Responsibilities required to coordinate the studies will include, but will not be limited to, learning and enacting studies and research protocols, interacting with patients, entering data, and ensuring data integrity, and reporting on data. Other responsibilities may be assumed contingent upon the needs of studies, dictated by direct supervisor, or funding of studies. The incumbent will need to maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with patients, their families, and various professionals including but not limited to the office of grants and contracts, co-investigators, consultants, funding source project managers, the University of Pittsburgh IRB, and fellow research and clinical program staff.
Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Working knowledge in research methodology, statistical software, data management application and data mining experience strongly preferred. Experience with computers and common software packages. Experience with human study coordination, subject consenting, IRB procedures, and clinical database management and coordinating multiple studies at one time is desirable. Strong organizational skills, outstanding verbal and written communications skills, and strong sense of responsibility and being able to present comprehensive data summaries required. CPR, CITI training (training will be provided if needed)
