Position Summary: The Senior Information Security Analyst is a leader in the design and implementation of a comprehensive college-wide security program that impacts every member of the Geneseo community. This is a new full-time position in the Office of Computing & Information Technology that is responsible for leading Geneseo's information security efforts. The security analyst serves as an expert advisor to the college's Information Security Program Team and senior management. The security analyst researches, recommends, and implements tools, systems, procedures, and policies that promote and support best practices in information security. The security analyst monitors and evaluates security trends, key performance indicators, and log information. They are responsible for managing security-related projects, increasing campus awareness of information security, developing and providing training, and promoting exemplary practices in handling/managing information in a secure manner. The security analyst is responsible for assuring compliance with Federal, New York State, SUNY, and local regulatory standards and policies.
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications A bachelors degree Experience with information security software tools, technologies, and services such as monitoring, encryption, firewalls, vulnerability scanning, endpoint protection, data leak protection, intrusion detection/prevention, penetration testing Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements, such as FERPA, NIST 800-171, PCIDSS, GLBA, GDPR Strong project management skills Able to influence and build positive relationships and work collaboratively and effectively with all stakeholders including faculty, staff, and students Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated, able to prioritize tasks, work independently, and achieve goals with minimal direct supervision Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment Ability to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis
Preferred Qualifications Masters degree Experience developing or managing a security program Experience with client-side device and OS security configuration and optimization Experience with securing web/server applications Experience with AlertLogic,TippingPoint, ELK, Nexpose, and/or Metasploit Experience with reporting tools and writing vulnerability/pen-test reports Experience with hardening systems and/or networks Experience working in a higher-education environment Three years of full-time or equivalent experience in a security role Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, GIAC, GSEC or other similar certifications
