The PGY1 managed care pharmacy resident will have an opportunity to learn across the continuum of care in an environment which places the care and improvement of human life above all else. Residents will improve patient outcomes, quality care standardization, and operational efficiencies through the application of population health management and managed care pharmacy principles, standards, and best practices. This includes support for interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including corporate and state Medicaid committee involvement.

As a member of a well-integrated and trusted team of 8 pharmacy residents, the PGY1 managed care pharmacy resident serves in leadership roles within the residency class and is mentored by PGY2 residents, as well as serve as a mentor within the layered-learning model with pharmacy students. HCA Healthcare has strong ties to the three local schools of pharmacy and involvement with several others nationwide.
After Residency: This program will prepare the candidate for positions including, but not limited to: Post-Graduate Year 2 training, managed care organization/health plan, pharmaceutical industry, regulatory compliance or quality assurance and improvement at a hospital or system level.
