This position provides functional and technical expertise in the PeopleSoft financial system in partnership with the other functional units of OSR (Research Administration and Sponsored Projects Accounting). The position works with the entire team – functional, analytical, and technical – to ensure successful implementation of software maintenance, new implementations, and ongoing support of the PeopleSoft system. This requires seeking advice from all stakeholders and making recommendations for best practices based on system, policy, and regulatory guidelines and capabilities.
Additionally, the position is responsible for the following: - Support OSR staff with award and project setup, accounting integration, contract setup, billing, accounts receivable, cash management, etc. - Execute and analyze daily, weekly, and month-end financial and PeopleSoft module reconciliation queries. - Ensure data discrepancies are resolved in a timely fashion. - Collaborate with Pre- and Post-Award staff in OSR, the Office of Research Information Systems (ORIS), Accounting Services, and Information Technology Services (ITS) to resolve any data integrity errors and issues that arise due to PeopleSoft module integration. - Provide education to OSR staff on key PeopleSoft grants components. - Develop new queries and reports as needed, including coordinating with ITS staff as necessary. - Work with OSR staff (e.g. Assistant Director, Training and Communication Specialist) to refine business processes and training documents as needed. - Assist in defining functional specifications when a system process change is necessary.
The position will also contribute to implementation of new systems and interfaces, as well as upgrades and enhancements to the current system. The position is responsible for highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications, which is critical to the productivity, efficiency, and overall effectiveness of the entire Office of Sponsored Research.
Education and Experience:
ESSENTIALQUALIFICATIONS - Demonstrated knowledge of systems analysis and processes. - Demonstrated knowledge of project management practices, principles, techniques, and tools. - Demonstrated knowledge of grants accounting, accruals, grants closeouts, month-end closing, and year-end closing processes. - Demonstrated knowledge of system development and implementation life cycles and methodologies. - Demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively for both functional processes and technical problems/solutions. - Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP), particularly experience using PeopleSoft to manage grants, contracts, projects, accounts receivable, billing modules, and integration of accounting entries with the general ledger. - Previous experience facilitating communication between functional and technical staff. - Demonstrated ability to make appropriate and well-reasoned recommendations and decisions in support of system users and stakeholders. - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word (or similar programs). - Demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and daily responsibilities with minimal supervision. - Demonstrated creativity and initiative in analyzing and solving complex problems related to business, financial, and/or contract to cash processes and applications. - Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Demonstrated ability to act as a project lead. - Demonstrated strong customer support skills.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS - 4-6 years of functional and technical experience in a higher education setting. - Demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft table structure, security, and workflow. - Demonstrated knowledge of developing accounting policies and procedures. - Demonstrated knowledge of the Accounts Receivable, Commitment Control, and Grants modules in PeopleSoft. - Strong proficiency with PeopleSoft query and Excel data analysis tools. - Demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft modules and the integration of the various components as necessary to provide production support and contribute to the designs of future and ongoing projects. - Functional experience in full lifecycle project setting, with experience in higher education applications and PeopleSoft Financials implementation. - Working knowledge of PeopleSoft test framework. - Previous experience with PeopleSoft FSCM modules in Version 9.0 or higher. - Demonstrated understanding of reconciliation techniques and data integrity verification.
