The Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theory and Empirics (INCITE) is seeking a Video Production Manager to oversee and manage videography for the Obama Presidency Oral History project. Reporting to the Associate Director of INCITE, the Production Manager will oversee the creation and implementation of a style guide for the Obama Presidency Oral History project. The Production Manager will supervise other AV staff and freelancers across the country on the project for roughly 400 interview sessions over four years; maintain up-to-date working knowledge of audio, film, video and lighting for interviews, and ensure all work is completed to a consistent, high standard as demanded from a Presidential Oral History. The Production Manager will work with the rest of the Obama Presidency Oral History team, and is responsible for participating in team meetings.
In close collaboration with the Obama Presidency Oral History team and the Associate Director of INCITE, the Production Manager will oversee the video production lifecycle of the oral history project and we be responsible for its quality assurance. The Production Manager will develop a style guide for all audio/video specialists and interviewers to utilize throughout the project; will identify, recruit, schedule, and supervise dozens of freelancers in various cities and time zones where interviews will occur; will provide guidance to on-site researchers and interviewers during off-site shoots; will review the final product, and will attend a large portion of sessions in person to ensure quality. The incumbent will work with and identify other filmmakers for potential collaborative opportunities. The Production Manager will also work with INCITE staff to ensure that employment agreements with freelancers are properly executed. (52%)
The incumbent will lead media management of video for a project that will have in excess of 20 terabytes of video. (25%)
The Production Manager will review and make minor edits to a minimum of 600 hours of video for inclusion in the completed archive. Edits will primarily include removing sections of video to match finalized transcript. (20%)

Bachelors' degree or its equivalent required.
A minimum of four years of related experience is required.
Interest in politics, history, or the social sciences a plus.
Expertise in managing and/or coordinating video production programs.
Advanced working knowledge of audio visual equipment, techniques, best practices, and technical standards for the production of recorded interviews.
Experience with cinematography on an as-needed basis.
Knowledge of audio, visual, photography and lighting.
Proficient in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere.
Knowledge of basic AV support such as Zoom, Skype.
Highly organized, motivated, and able to handle high-volume workload, manage concurrent deadlines and to work as part of a team.
Excellent time-management skills, organization and project management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Leadership and people skills with the ability to train staffers in basic technical skills as needed for their interviews.
Must be able to travel and work flexible hours, sometimes on weekends and evenings.
