JOB TITLE: IT Project Manager, Senior LOCATION: Geisinger Office Building I DEPARTMENT: IT Program Management Office WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE) JOB SUMMARY: Manages medium to large size IT projects and like sized phases of enterprise IT projects utilizing Geisinger standardized Project, Program and Portfolio Management Methodology (GP3). Will manage multiple projects concurrently. Works collaboratively with project stakeholders and functional managers to develop project goals and objectives, set project timeline, manage change, and control scope. Responsible for managing project artifacts. Effectively utilizes project management tools. Leads project team in collaboration with IT functional leadership to achieve project goals and objectives on time and within budget. Reports and appropriately escalates project progress, concerns, and issues to project stakeholders and IT leadership. Receives direction from more experienced project managers and IT functional managers. Mentors less experienced project managers. SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES: Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to successfully lead medium to large sized technology and/or business projects using a standardized methodology.
Demonstrated success leading multiple technology and/or business projects in excess of 96 person-months effort (i.e. 8 FTEs for duration of 12 months).
Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills along with strong facilitation and presentation skills, and the ability to bring a project team to consensus on issues. Must be able to communicate difficult/sensitive information in a diplomatic and tactful way.
Demonstrated capability to successfully handle multiple project teams and multiple tasks simultaneously and under strict deadlines.
Demonstrated knowledge of and practical application of formal project management methodologies, including PMI's PMBOK® Guide.
Experience using project management software, including Microsoft Project. Demonstrated knowledge of formal business analysis methodologies, including IIBA's BABOK® Guide.
Demonstrates a high level of initiative and independence.
Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed environment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of six years’ experience managing projects or working on successful IT related projects. Preferred Experience: Healthcare experience preferred. Required Education: Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Information Systems. In lieu of degree, minimum of two years’ experience managing projects or working on successful IT related projects. Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Information Systems. Required Certifications or Licensures: Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification or equivalent within 12 months is required. If a suitably experienced candidate cannot be found, applicants who meet the basic qualifications but possess fewer years of experience will be considered for hire at a lower level.
