This position is expected to provide vision, senior leadership, supervision, and implementation of the instructional management functions and applicable operational aspects of Customized Training and Continuing Education (CTCE) as a self-sufficient operation, both on and off campus for South Central College. The position impacts business and industry partnerships, community-based partnerships, and business cultivation and development. This position involves significant discretion and substantial involvement in the development, interpretation and implementation of college policy of both credit and non-credit education. This position operates on two campuses, Faribault and North Mankato. This position involves setting an overall direction and structure, while operating directly with the entire Administrative Team of the college for the mutual benefit of South Central College and the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities System. This position participates as a member of the college's management team.
Lead, direct, and supervise the instructional functions of the Customized Training and Continuing Education Division called the Center for Business & Industry. This includes promoting, enhancing and maintaining all functions and assignments as well as implementing policies and procedures that fulfill the philosophy, mission and goals.
Administer Customized Training and Continuing Education division operations and provide direction, implementation, and supervision of all activities on and off campus (of both campuses).
Develop and manage the annual budgets for the Customized Training and Continuing Education Divisions (of both campuses) to ensure a financially self-sufficient operation.
Establish and maintain positive and effective communications necessary to the successful operation (of both campuses).
Provide leadership in college and program planning efforts (of both campuses).
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Bachelor's degree in Management, Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field.
A minimum of three years of demonstrated progressive management responsibility working with all business processes including human resource management, strategic planning and implementation, financial management, sales and marketing, project management, and customer service OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to supervise administrative support staff and student employees including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, professional development, and performance evaluations.
Demonstrated work experience building and sustaining public/private partnerships: collaborating successfully with workforce development agencies and other community partners.
A broad knowledge of teaching and learning.
Experience in developing and administering budgets
Experience creating and leading revenue generating programs.
Attention to detail and good organizational skills are needed to manage effectively and efficiently.
Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field.
5 to 10+ years of Management Experience in developing a comprehensive business/marketing plan and departmental budget of a minimum of $1 million annually.
Experience in a for-profit business setting.
Knowledge of the relationship between education and the world of work to manage programs and curriculum.
Knowledge of the curriculum development and redesign process including the development of course competencies and sound instructional strategies to ensure quality learner outcomes.
Experience making presentations to small and large groups.
Experience implementing an aggressive sales and marketing plan.
Proven record of accomplishment of developing and cultivating effective relationships with business and industry; developing techniques to measure financial performance and client satisfaction; collaborating with other organizations.
Experience working with a diverse array of individuals within an organization and outside customers.
Ability to secure and leverage resources to support teaching and learning through fundraising, grant solicitation and management, and sound fiscal management.
Established business contacts in the Faribault and/or Mankato areas, the region, and state.
Experience working in a collective bargaining environment
Knowledge of: business practices, higher education, workforce development systems and adult education and training programs.
Experience with contract training for business and corporate partners.
