The University of Iowa College of Public Health Department of Occupational and Environmental Health is seeking a Clinical Trials & Data Management Research Associate. This position will conduct all aspects of day-to-day clinical research project management for research studies on medication deprescribing and falls risk among older adults.
Duties to include:
Protocol Development/ Management and Study Responsibilities
·Oversee primary data collection, including developing field data collection protocols and procedures
·Provide budgetary oversight
·Prepare agendas for weekly and bi-weekly project meetings
·Ensure project stays on timeline
·Manage project resources by maintaining organized and updated filing systems
·Troubleshoot and resolve problems with equipment (e.g., computers, printers), office space and other facility-related issues
·Serve as the liaison between the University of Iowa team and collaborators
Research/ Clinical Activities; Subject Recruitment and Enrollment
·Oversee development of screening and recruitment procedures, including development of data collection instruments
·Initiate the design and content of materials mailed and communicated to study participants
·Assist in preparing publications and presentations
·Develop summary reports for study participants
·Perform data management and coding of qualitative and quantitative data
·Assist in grant proposal-writing
·Conduct literature searches using common library databases (e.g., PubMed) and summarize the literature
·Manage daily study activities related to the study protocols; provide training and guidance to new staff/current staff regarding study protocols
Data Collection and Monitoring
·Oversee primary data collection, including developing data collection instruments, developing and maintaining data tracking systems, managing field data collection
·Assure fidelity to field data collection protocols
·Monitor field data collection activity and quality
Regulatory Guidelines and Documents
·Assist in completing progress reports and other reporting documentation to the funding agency
·Develop and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and maintain IRB status
·Assure safety and compliance; respond to compliance and safety violations
·Assure staff are compliant with UI policies and procedures
·Maintain ClinicalTrials.gov procedures
·Manage graduate students.
·Participate in hiring, developing and managing staff performance
·Maintain cash handling plans according to University of Iowa requirements for paying participant incentives.
A Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Minimum of one year of project management experience conducting clinical or social science research.
Demonstrated experience in developing human subjects applications, protocols, and survey instruments and in reporting to human subjects Institutional Review Board.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to travel and have valid driver's license and the ability to meet University Driving Policy standards.
Previous supervisory experience.
Experience with personal computers, expert working knowledge of word processing (Word) and working knowledge of database management software (RedCap or Access).
Master's degree in Public Health or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated success in writing grant proposals and research manuscripts.
Percent of Time: 75 - 100%
