- Technical engineering support for major mechanical, electrical and plumbing utilities systems and equipment.
- Lead engineering and customer design reviews for all Facilities Department projects
- Initiates, manages, and directs capital projects for facility improvements and other building/site renovations
- Projects range up to $10,000,000.
- Trend analysis and programming responsibility for the Building Control System and the Security Card access system
- This position in the Facilities Department is required to support all organizational departments.
Responsibilities: Provides design and construction oversight for contractors performing the work. Assures that necessary safety and environmental policies are followed, building service disruptions are coordinated with impacted on-site personnel and relevant codes and permits are compiled with. Project decisions will have a cost influence ranging up to $10,000,000 within the approved Capital Authorization request. Creates, initiates, plans, directs and coordinates facilities improvement and enhancement projects. Engineering responsibility for utility and environmental systems in order to assure Patient, visitors and employee safety and comfort: air conditioning, heating, air circulation, electrical, plumbing and medical systems. Ensures that projects are completed in a timely and safe manner in accordance with specifications and all regulatory requirements. Design Engineer responsibilities for the facility. Responsibilities include providing technical directions and leading designing review of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and Medical systems for the building. Procurement of all non-construction facilities equipment and services for the facility. Reports to the Facilities Director and Executive Staff as to the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress. Active participation in the design construction teams responsible for the overall cost, quality, and schedule for successful implementation of the project. Provides design and construction oversight for contractors performing the work. Assures that necessary safety and environmental policies are followed, building service disruptions are coordinated with impacted on-site personnel and relevant codes and permits are compiled with. Project decisions will have a cost influence ranging up to $10,000,000 within the approved Capital Authorization request.Responsible for the selection and coordination of all maintenance service contractors and ensures all contractual provisions are met along with established codes.Assists in managing and directs facility capital and other building/site renovation projects with the Facilities Project Manager. Assist Project manager in developing, manages and is responsible for the cost, schedule and quality of the work. Initiate CIP’s for most building renovation projects. Provides design, and construction oversight for contractors performing the work. Insures all commission practice are followed. Assures that necessary safety and environmental policies are followed, building service disruptions are coordinated with impacted on-site personnel, and relevant codes and permits are compiled with. Projects range from $10,000 to $10,000,000 within an annual capital budget ranging from $1,000,000 to $10,000,000. Develops and maintains system controls and design responsibility for the building control DDC (air conditioning/ Heating) system. Initiates energy conservation measures and projects to minimize energy and other utility consumption at the site. Assures site compliance with the Energy Stars Building, the Motor Challenge and the Greenlights programs. Participates as an active member ASHE. Actively supports all applicable safety and environmental programs for the site. Audits and monitors facility conditions to ensure safe and efficient working conditions are maintained for occupants. Communication with directors of project timelines, weekly reports, project status, availability. Schedules and supervises maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction and the checkout, installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.Responsible for developing interim reports on construction aspects which affect the safety and integrity of the Medical Center. Reports are submitted to the Environment of Care Committee. Other information: - Ten years of plant engineering or systems operation with a minimum of three years construction oversight experience is required
