Position Our New York City lighting design studio is expanding and seeking a full-time Senior Lighting Designer to create innovative and effective architectural lighting designs in a multi-disciplinary environment. Core Responsibilities - Design innovative, creative, and complete lighting concepts and present them to clients
- Actively collaborate in the design, development and production of lighting designs within fee and construction budgets
- Create and analyze lighting design documentation including renderings, layouts, schedules, calculations, specifications, and drawing packages utilizing a variety of lighting software and tools
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams to meet project requirements and scope obligations
- Provide input on company design standards and specifications to improve quality
- Review and research new products and equipment for incorporation into design specifications
- Mentor and review the work of junior lighting designers
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or higher in lighting design or related field
- 5+ years’ experience as a professional lighting designer
- Demonstrated competency and attention to detail in all phases of architectural lighting including: computer drafting, hand drawing, lighting calculations, lighting documentation, and rendering
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI32, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of electrical principles as they relate to artificial lighting, lighting control systems, energy codes, and energy-efficient design principles
- Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and interpersonal - and an ability to tailor communication style to diverse audiences
- Superb at managing time, prioritizing work, and providing timely responses to stakeholders
- Enthusiasm to collaborate beyond your lighting discipline with other practices within Atelier Ten to develop highly integrated sustainable buildings
- Experience with LEED or sustainable design projects, understanding of lighting control systems, and familiarity with Lumion, Radiance, or Rhino are a plus
