The Director of Content & Digital Services oversees the creative expression of the BSO brand and its various sub-brands across all channels, including ownership of all websites for the BSO.
This role requires a strong ability to translate strategic needs into compelling content and present a unified brand identity for the BSO across its various programs and sub-brands (Symphony, Pops, July 4th, Tanglewood, Tanglewood Music Center, Tanglewood Learning Institute, Popular Artists). This role also requires an individual with a producorial perspective, holding a balance of creative vision and project management abilities within a fast-paced environment.
This role works closely with all members of the Marketing & Brand division and leads a team of six, including four direct reports: Creative Services Director, Website Manager, Content Producer/Copywriter, and Production Assistant. Content production is also supported by external writers, music historians, and audio producers, who will play a critical role in developing assets the BSO that are activated as part of a holistic strategy.
Working closely with all members of the Content & Digital Services team to deliver compelling creative assets on schedule to serve various campaign needs, from advertising creative, to video and social content, to direct mail and other collateral, based on the campaign strategy and direction established by the Marketing & Audience Development team
Leading the development of timelines, budgets, and project management practices across all areas of content production, design (including both print and digital), and web production; this includes routing and trafficking procedures for necessary approvals
Delivery of required assets to fulfill and activate agreements with corporate partners at various touch-points within the patron experience
Serving as a key contact for the BSO’s identified web design/development vendor for major enhancements, along with the Senior Director, Brand & Marketing, and with support from the Website Manager
Ensuring that all content for each respective sub-brand at the BSO is aligned with the goals and stylistic guidelines for that sub-brand, all with an eye toward the overarching BSO brand strategy
Collaborating with external marketing agencies to deliver required creative assets to spec, with necessary approval from the Marketing & Audience Development team
Meeting regularly with programmatic leadership of each sub-brand to discuss campaign direction and feedback on specific assets, in partnership with the Marketing & Audience Development team
Collaborating regularly with the Development team’s creative resources to ensure consistency of brand identity across the patron experience
10+ years of progressive creative leadership positions, with a preference for not-for-profit cultural organizations; knowledge of classical music strongly preferred
Agency or other client-service leadership experience strongly preferred
Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities
Strong proficiency with data-driven decision making
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with many competing priorities
