Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing Solutions within Vanderbilt University's Division of Communications. The Digital Asset Assistant is responsible for implementing the ingest and organization of assets into a new digital asset management (DAM) system. Key tasks include: uploading and tagging images with metadata, developing best practices for consistency, and assisting with user training/on-boarding. The ideal candidate will have an eye for selecting images and video that are remarkable and using the DAM to amplify/distribute those assets to the University, in support of key communications narratives.
The Digital Asset Assistant is part of the Marketing Solutions group within the Division of Communications.Marketing Solutions is a team of designers, editors, photographers, and project managers.In close collaboration with colleagues across the Division of Communications, Marketing Solutions produces strategic marketing materials that inform, engage and inspire others to participate in Vanderbilt University's global academic and research mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
Upload, organize, communicate and curate assets for various communications and marketing needs throughout the Division and University (create collections, portals, searches and other as needed).
Understand the Vanderbilt brand and values, using the DAM to maximize our visual impact through strategic use of photography.
Act as system librarian and develop best practices for the DAM, including taxonomy, metadata schema, tagging standards, workflows and processes across the entire organization
Perform tagging and uploading of assets in DAM system
Use knowledge of photography and media to select and promote images that amplify the values and key narratives of the University
Provide asset download reports and metrics analysis
Educate, facilitate and evangelize for proper usage of DAM system across all departments
Create tutorial/instruction documents, supervise on-boarding and training of staff on DAM system
Profile of an Ideal Candidate
Bachelors Degree id required with preference given Library Science, Archive Management, Information Systems, Knowledge Management, Data Science, or related majors
1-3 years of digital asset management or related business experience/education
Knowledge of DAM systems, including structure, functionality, taxonomy and metadata
Experience in technical user training and support
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally with other departments and stakeholders
Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Knowledge of all graphic file formats, their roles and particularities
Exceptional client service, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt quickly to changing technology, systems and processes
Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
Experience with photography preferred
