The Associate Designer collaborates with photographers, writers, editors, the UX/development team, the digital channels team, the videographer, and the events team to create cohesive products. S/he works on the design team which creates emails, web sites and components, social media assets, visual identity files, and prints collateral (invitations, programs, menu cards, programs, one-sheets, cards, reports, newsletters, signage, and direct mail pieces). Under the close supervision of the Design Director, the Associate Designer is an entry-level part time position that has additional duties that include but are not limited to:
Implements approved design direction for digital and print channels under the close supervision of the Design Director.
Develops designs according to specs/guidelines provided, conducts photo/image research, including for Georgetown Magazine, finds creative solutions, and applies Georgetown University brand standards.
Designs for emails, UX, and, social media, working with external vendors and internal production department to ensure quality throughout production process.
Develops print specs and obtain estimates, managing pre-press and production tasks, as well as project work flow using the OA Communication team project management system (Wrike).
Archives digital files for all jobs in Box and physical print copies where applicable, labeling each project with correct nomenclatures and archiving system.
Logo and Brand Asset Fulfillment
Shares logos, brand assets, and completed design pieces as requested.
Orders office supplies for design team members as needed.
Works with the OA Help Desk to ensure that the printer is functioning optimally and stocked with paper.
Assists design team members with the creation of mock-ups, photocopying, scanning, shipping and mailing, and similar tasks as needed.
Manages the Design Director's incoming email when the Design Director is out of the office.
Requirements and Qualifications
BFA in Graphic Design or equivalent experience
0-2 years of experience in Design
Experience with the Mac platform
Knowledge of print and digital industry
Strong communicator with excellent organizational skills
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; Professional software including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Suite
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Sketch
