Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive student enrollment management plan for the University's colleges that supports overall institutional strategic goals.
Formulates enrollment goals for each degree program (collaborating with appropriate college Dean, assessing needs, utilizing advanced predictive modeling techniques, defining desired student groups [GPA, MCAT, etc.], obtaining clarity on each of the colleges' missions and curriculum, establishing targets to achieve, pursuing identified student populations, etc.).
Ensures attainment of enrollment goals (monitoring regional and national trends, conducting assessments, examining data, evaluating impact on enrollment, identifying targeted opportunities based on those trends, developing strategies, making adjustments as trends change, etc.).
Develops and maintains a comprehensive enrollment management plan (conceptualizing ideas, conducting research, formulating ideas, producing documents, collaborating with University Relations, monitoring information, evaluating effectiveness of promotional materials, monitoring goal attainment, making adjustments, updating and/or revising the plan, etc.).
Ensures comprehensive enrollment management strategies and best practices.
Assesses trends and effectiveness of enrollment services programs (making sure they are student-centered, collecting information, synthesizing data, analyzing statistics, publicizing University trends and outcomes, developing proposals and strategies, etc.).
Oversees and/or directs recruitment and admissions programs (collaborating with others [faculty, staff, students, alumni] to engage in recruiting initiatives, instituting diversity strategies, incorporating technology to advance the effectiveness and efficiency of the programs, exploring options in support of institutional strategic goals, etc.).
Works to attain optimal student enrollment, collaborating with University leadership, strengthening communication and collaboration between University departments, promoting student programs and benefits, etc.).
Remains technologically competitive in attracting desired students (monitoring emerging trends, conducting research, identifying operating systems, partnering with Information Technology, improving efficiencies, implementing/updating/revising systems, etc.).
Provides strategic guidance and/or structure to the Enrollment Management team to ensure unified execution and/or implementation of all departmental responsibilities.
Effectively leads direct reports in the areas of student recruitment, admissions application services, scholarship, regulatory compliance [FERPA, Higher Education Reauthorization Act, institutional policy, accreditation standards, etc.], student records, and student-related University publications (developing and maintaining effective communication and synergy among and between units (offering inspiration, answering questions, brainstorming ideas, reviewing/editing materials, providing feedback and input, ensuring strategic alignment, etc.).
Oversees web development for enrollment management services (reviewing proposals from departmental units, assessing strategic alignment, providing feedback, exchanging information timely and regularly, redirecting creative focus, etc.).
Creates and fosters a positive synergistic work environment (supporting unit leaders in attaining goals, assessing CQI needs, monitoring unit leaders and staff interactions with internal and external constituents, ensuring highest levels of efficiency, courtesy, professionalism, and customer service, effecting change [as needed], etc.).
Ensures effective engagement, administrative oversight, and operational direction in the development and execution of quality programs and services for the office of Student Affairs.
Ensures comprehensive support and mentoring programs for KCU students (directing the assignment of faculty advisors, providing oversight for the student assistant program vendor relationship and services, guiding the facilitation of AAMC Careers in Medicine program, overseeing representation on scholarship, honors, recognition and awards committees, monitoring student complaint process, assessing learning enhancement programs, etc.).
Effectively leads direct reports to oversee various programs, services, events, and activities for University students (providing leadership in the coordination of student events and activities, ensuring staff guidance and support of student programs follows University protocols, ensuring student services are in alignment with University budget, etc.).
Directs and/or oversees the day-to-day management of multiple departments.
Directs the activities of management personnel (guiding supervisors toward optimal performance, interviewing, selecting personnel, monitoring performance against standards, reviewing/conducting performance evaluations, effecting discipline, conducting meetings, ensuring adherence to University policies, practices, and protocols, assisting with problems [conflict resolution, crisis management, etc.], deadline attainment, personnel issues, etc.).
Manages the department's budget, oversees departmental budgets and allocation of financial resources, and ensures adherence to University practices (preparing and submitting annually, reviewing unit budgets, monitoring expenditures, reconciling monthly, examining profit/loss statements, assessing needs [operating and capital], forecasting expenditures, following protocols, formulating recommendations, effectively documenting, etc.).
Proactively enhances and improves departmental efficiencies (assessing performance, evaluating needs/services, providing educational enrichment opportunities, ensuring optimal utilization of facilities and resources, etc.).
Oversees personnel recordkeeping [vacation, holiday, sick time, etc.] (monitoring activities, recording absences, directing the updating of files, etc.).
Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.
Education: Doctoral degree in relevant field required (higher education administration, student affairs, etc.). Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
Experience: A superb profile of educational leadership with a minimum ten to fifteen years of experience in higher education in increasingly responsible positions in Enrollment Management, Admissions, Student Affairs or Registrar. Minimum six years' experience in a leadership position, with full responsibility for Enrollment Management, Admissions, Student Affairs, or Registrar. Must have experience using integrated marketing strategies to support goal achievement.
Skills & Abilities: Must have a genuine passion for working with and supporting students in their academic and personal development, an understanding of emerging issues in students services and higher education, proven skills in conflict resolution, and mediation and crisis management. Must have exceptional organization, management, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong team leader with can-do attitude, and capacity to be a sophisticated strategist with innovative ideas and results oriented. Excellent quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to evaluate and use data in decision-making. Strong knowledge and adept in using web-based and other technologies to support programs and operations. Ability to facilitate process improvements designed to streamline and make services more user-friendly. Demonstrated skill and competency in executing projects and adept at attaining deadlines. Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, and self-disciplined. Excellent follow-through skills essential. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead staff and the work of several departments to optimal levels of productivity, balance multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines and maintaining positive relations. Must have sound, rational decision-making skills and the ability to hold firm in challenging and/or adverse situations. Ability to work cooperatively with various university departments to ensure goal attainment.
