The School of Dentistry Communications Specialist is responsible for managing all written and oral communications, internal and external, for the School of Dentistry. This position requires outstanding communication, project management, and relationship-management skills; and a deep commitment to OHSUs mission and the way that mission is fulfilled by faculty and staff in the School of Dentistry. The role reports jointly to leaders in the School of Dentistry and the OHSU Strategic Communications, but will engage important additional stakeholders in operational and strategic roles around throughout the institution.
Associates or Bachelors degree in a relevant field
Three to five years of experience in a communications field
Significant department level strategic communications experience
Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) internally and externally on all social media platforms, web based platforms
Ability to master OHSU content management systems to effectively maintain a current and engaging internal and external web presence
Demonstrate cultural agility, self-awareness, humility, self-reflection, respect and openness to learning from other perspectives
Basic graphic design knowledge
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work independently, juggling multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines
Ability to research, understand, and write clearly about scientific, technical, and social issues
Work location can be in a shared office area
Work can require travel across OHSU campus
Will occasionally include staffing evening and weekend events
Ability to utilize a computer with extended periods of sitting and/or standing
Ability to traverse the campus to meet department leaders and attend department events
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Experience in a university or academic healthcare setting
